Amelia heard strange rumors online surrounding hololive: talking foxes, magical squirrels, superhuman dogs, and more. Soon after beginning her investigation on hololive, and just out of interest, she decided to become an idol herself!
She loves to pass her time training her reflexes with FPS games, and challenging herself with puzzle games.

Overview[edit]

Amelia H. Watson[26], officially listed as Watson Amelia (ワトソン・アメリア), is a detective Virtual YouTuber who debuted as a member of Hololive English -Myth-. Amelia is usually referred to by her fans and gen-mates by the pet-name, Ame (アメ).

When busy with investigating, Amelia likes drinking iced tea and has an affinity for fensi noodles. In her free time, she loves riding roller coasters and sleeping, although the former is difficult due to her disliking going outside and the latter cannot be done if she is clothed. She also dislikes onions, a fact that caused many viewers to joke that she hates Minato Aqua. She hiccups frequently during streams which leads her viewers to comment "HIC". She hypothesizes that these are up-side-down burps that she's converting into cuter hiccups, perhaps as a result of swallowing air during meals[27]. Amelia enjoys FPS games the most such as Apex Legends and Valorant alongside open world games such as Fallout and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Amelia is unofficially considered the leader of Hololive English -Myth- by her genmates due to her technical knowledge of streaming equipment, VR, and her creative ideas for solo and collaborative projects [28].

Personality[edit]

Amelia is a highly active, expressive and kind individual who's often willing to help others, especially her own gen mates. She was said to have helped troubleshoot some of the technical problems her gen mates were having before and during debut which led to the birth to the meme Amelia Tech Tips which is a parody of the popular YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips. Amelia is also highly supportive towards hololive members and frequently comments in any ongoing streams whenever she gets the time to do so. Despite all of these positive traits, Amelia also has another side to her that comically emerges especially when playing in competitive player-versus-player (PvP) games such as Apex Legends that is often dubbed Gremlin mode by her viewers. She often becomes greedy, highly defensive of her own mistakes whilst being highly critical of her teammates actions, and even "salty". [29] Such kinds of behavior has led fans to also calling her a "True Gamer" in the sense that gamers are often considered to be toxic online. Though it is important to note that this doesn't detract from her positive traits but rather makes her streams quite unpredictable and very interesting to watch.

Amelia can also be quite mischievous and playfully naughty by pulling pranks on her fellow gen mates or making statements and jokes that have inconspicuously lewd undertones. One such popular joke would be her "Ground Pound" which she first mentioned during a Super Mario Odyssey playthrough with a slightly lower pitched and "gremlin-like" voice.[30] [31]. She also named a door in Minecraft "Gura's backdoor" with an added lenny emoticon " ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) " that is often used mischievously online.[32]

Her signature determination, combined with stubbornness when playing games, has resulted in multiple instances where she refuses to quit a game or challenge until she gets it right. Amelia's stubbornness would eventually be referred to as Ameway, as a way to reflect that Ame likes doing things her way and will ignore any feedback from chat, or even the game itself. Some instances of this trait include her Mario streams, Antichamber playthrough,[33] and the iconic Sun station landing in Outer Wilds, which took her just under 3 hours to achieve [34] [35]. As a way to show support when she is stuck on a challenge or level, teamates tend to send "#Amebeliever" in chat to encourage her as she repeatedly attempts to complete a level on her own terms.

Mini-Series[edit]

Amelia has a variety of mini-series and one-off streams. While not all of them make a return as a regular series, they serve as a testing ground that allows Amelia to be creative, and test the limits of what she can do on-stream.

Super Sunday[edit]

The longest-running series by Amelia Watson, began in late October 2020 as a way to allow Amelia to skip some superchat reading sessions after her streams, and instead save them for a Sunday stream where she would take her time to read each name on-stream[36]. Super Sunday has also gone through a number of adjustments throughout the series to allow Amelia to continue to read Superchats, but not spend as much time doing so. Since November of 2020, the streams have not featured BGM on stream. Instead, Amelia and the viewers listen to music via a separate stream on Twitch called "bubb4bot", which allows the viewers to submit requests for music to play during the stream.

Assignment[edit]

The Assignment series was originally intended to provide greater interaction by Teamates through the use of weekly challenges. However the series did not progress past its initial episode, which featured Teamates journal entries about dreams they had had during the week in which the #dreAME hashtag on Twitter was used. The series has yet to return as Ame pursues other creative projects.[37]

Animal Review[edit]

Amelia is well known to have an interest in animals, biodiversity, and especially marine life. With that interest in mind, Amelia started the Animal Review series. Initially as a one-off stream reviewing bugs, positive feedback by the viewers encouraged her to continue the series[38]. The series has now delved into deep-sea creatures, as well as different types of monkeys, and is likely to continue in the future.

The Fish Tank[edit]

The Fish Tank was a live-podcast style program featuring Gawr Gura as a guest. The stream featured a variety of segments including a "make-up" segment and a debate with viewer input via the "straw poll" platform[39]. Although she mentioned intentions to host a second episode with another gen-mate, The Fish Tank has been placed on hold as she tries other creative projects.

AmeTag[edit]

AmeTag was a one-stream series which aimed to showcase the fan-made content in Amelia Watson's hashtags[40]. While there was an intention to return to this series in the future, it has been placed on hold as she explores other creative projects.

Watson Weekly (Formerly Ame in the A.M.)[edit]

Ame in the A.M. is a morning news program hosted by Amelia Watson, similar to the previous AsaCoco program previously hosted by Kiryu Coco. The program also uses the hashtag #amenews to gather important headlines from around Holopro. The stream contains segments such as news headlines, commercial breaks, and a weather report. Its initial episode was hosted as a one-off stream before going on a short break from streaming [41] The show would be rebooted, after an almost 2 year hiatus with the launch of Watson Weekly in June of 2023. [42] Watson Weekly still airs in the morning for viewers in Asia, and uses the #WatsonWeekly hashtag to gather viewer submitted news.

Smol Adventures[edit]

Smol adventures is a short animated series, written and directed by Amelia. The initial episode follows the Myth members in space, as they reunite Council member Sana with her genmates. The episode was aired a day before Hololive English's first appearance at the HoloFes 3 Link Your Wish.

Smol Ame Puppet Show[edit]

This show, hosted by Smol Ame, retells the story of the HoloMyth debuts, as well as an interpretation of the investigation by Amelia. The story also explores an alternate timeline in which Umisea members Gawr Gura and Ninomae Ina'nis run away from Amelia Watson. The show was hosted as part of Amelia's 2nd anniversary celebration.[43]

HoloWorm[edit]

Amelia organized a WORMS W.M.D tournament, dubbed the HoloWorm Tournament featuring talents from Hololive Production English and Hololive Indonesia. The tournament was split over 3 weeks during September and early October 2022, featuring a total of 11 talents, and accompanying commentary provided by Holostars English and Hololive English -Myth-.[44][45] The tournament was well received and talents expressed interest in continuing the tournament the following year.

Amelia has been a revolutionary force in the usage and development of VR related assets and models for Hololive EN. Her journey with VR, as a means of content creation for Hololive, began as one of her fundraising goals from her 9-hour fundraising stream [46]. After the successful event, she held a VR live stream using a fan-made VR model of Walfie's "Smol Ame", created by Hask [47]. The stream was received with widespread praise for being the first Hololive EN member to have a "3D model", which also encouraged further creations of VR assets and models by fans through the #ame3d hashtag. After continuing to test the capabilities of her VR model through follow-up streams, and unarchived Karaoke streams, Amelia began to work on further VR projects. She also successfully tested the compatibility of the VR Chat platform with Cover's proprietary models during a collaboration stream with Roboco. The stream consisted of the Amelia showing Roboco around the main HoloEN VR map, and testing their models in other public maps and VR games [48].

HoloEN VR[edit]

Amelia worked alongside the VR Chat team, Walfie, and SeafoamBoi to create a set of VR models for the HoloMyth members to celebrate their first debut anniversary [49]. The stream showcased a set of themed maps for each HoloMyth member, with each member's room being tied to their lore. Amelia's room featured an empty desert, described as a point in an alternate timeline. The models were subsequently released publicly for fans to use in VR chat or animations. Henma made their first appearance in the credits as the project's "liaison". To celebrate Halloween, Amelia worked alongside a talented team of previous VR project contributors, and newcomers to her VR development team Twi, G1fan Zania, and Khyle, to create an entirely new Halloween-themed map , and models for Council. The stream also showcased Holomyth's first original song "Myth or Treat", with lyrics by Mori Calliope, instrumentals by Farhan, and video animation by Kanauru featuring the VR models used in the Halloween stream. After the Christmas HoloEN VR stream, it was announced that the HoloEN VR map would be released publicly [50], subsequently being released as the "hololive English Smolverse" on December 23.[51]

Ametaverse[edit]

On a keynote-style presentation, Ame announced the creation of the "HoloEN VR Studios", while also poking fun at NFT collection with her own NFATs which can be claimed by posting a picture with the hashtag #NFAmeT. The HoloEN VR Studios were created by a cast of previous HoloEN VR project contributors, and newcomer to her VR team nullrefrepo. As explained by Amelia, the VR studio will be used by the Hololive EN members to give them the opportunity to try a variety of content projects involving VR. The first event held in the studio was a Smol Calli concert [52]. The concert was produced by Amelia, with nullrefrepo in charge of the VR Chat camera system, and newcomer to her VR team AcChosen in charge of the stage and lighting system. The HoloEN VR studios also received the blessing of Yagoo himself, calling the Ametaverse "Super SUGOI".[53] Kiara's 2022 birthday concert was recorded at Amelia's house studio, where she built and provided the necessary resources for 3D model tracking. This earned her one of the biggest thanks in the credits after the event. [54]

Amelia's fans are called Teamates, a compound of "tea" and "mates"[95][96], while her members are called Investigators[26] (a triple entendre based on the words "invest", "gator", and "investigator"). Investigators are depicted as cartoon alligators wearing stereotypical detective clothing (e.g. deerstalker caps and trench coats). Her fans also regularly send $13.37 or yellow superchats, referencing her original timeline and colour scheme.

  • Amelia Watson is one of two members in Hololive English who prefer to say their names using the Western name order (given name, family name) — the other being Calliope Mori.
  • Throughout most of 2021, Amelia had been experiencing adverse reactions after consuming bread or products containing gluten, leading to her assuming she had developed an allergy. This resulted in some streams being delayed or re-scheduled due to her allergic reaction. However, after undergoing some medical tests she learned that she did not have an allergy to gluten. [104] [105][106][107] This resulted in her changing to a gluten-free diet, with occasional indulgences. However, after traveling to Japan for her birthday and trying the bread there, she believes that her allergy may be specifically related to pesticides used in wheat production, which are not used widely for wheat production in Japan.[108]
  • While she does not regularly play Fortnite, Amelia has a habit of randomly signing the chorus of the Chug Jug with you parody song. This is often the case when she stops mid-sentence after saying "Got".
  • Due to the existence of different timelines, Amelia has clarified that she belongs to timeline 1337 (the number being a reference to leetspeak). Amelias from other timelines occasionally make an appearance on stream to report on their timelines' experience. [109] [110]
  • Amelia refers to her regular stream time as AMT, or "Ame Standard Time". This time slot is usually around 15:00PT/18:00ET/23:00GMT. This is subject to change for time zones that do not follow Daylight Savings.
  • Has a private discord server where she keeps notes and resources that help her plan projects.[111]
  • Amelia refers to her offline periods as "becoming a potato". This is a reference to the "Couch Potato" slang referring to someone who puts responsibilities on hold while they relax at home for a period of time.[112]
  • Buffson was born from an Ame in a different timeline who had been a test subject for Watson Laboratories [113]. She can lift up to 700 pounds, and smash 3 watermelons per minute. [114]
  • After taking the Myers-Briggs test, she found out her personality type is INFP-T. According to her, this is the same result she received last time she took the test. [115]

  • There is an ongoing joke in the Hololive community regarding the recurring instances of new debut announcements happening when Amelia is taking breaks from streaming. Amelia has told various stories from her childhood that have become quite well known especially for the injuries she received.

  • Hit her head on an open drawer while jumping on a bed with her brother and got a hole-like scar.[123]
  • Bit her tongue after she slipped and fell in an ice cream shop so much so that it nearly fell off.[124]
  • Had a ball thrown at her face by her brother that knocked out three teeth and created a bloody scene.[125]
  • Got bitten by dogs frequently and in one such incident had her face bitten, though she didn't get any rabies shot because she kept trying to bite the nurses.[126]
  • Had her ankle ran over by a car that scraped off a lot of skin off her foot though it didn't break.[127]
  • Was left with her brother in a car hot enough to melt crayons and then proceeded to smear the melted crayons all over the roof of the car.[128]
  • Had her eyelid cut by a flying piece of ice from a cup of beer thrown by a concert attendee.[129]
  • Got permanent hearing damage due to frequently standing in close proximity to concert speakers.[130]
  • Cut the top of her thumb off when trying to peel an orange.[131]

Amelia's Pocket Watch
Amelia carries a pocket watch on her skirt that grants her the ability to time-travel.[153] Amelia's time-traveling high-jinks are implied to be directly responsible for bringing Kureiji Ollie's human counterpart, Olivia, into the current timeline[154] and for causing Kiryu Coco to join Hololive.[155] Later, it was revealed that the watch originally belonged to Ouro Kronii and that Amelia had simply "borrowed" it.[156][157] According to Amelia, Kronii's can sometimes leave her frozen on-screen as her time traveling abilities are not meant for her to be stationary but rather move forward and backward in time.[158] Amelias from other timelines use a shared blog to update other timelines on their situation. [159] Among the alternative Ames, there are an unknown number of Evil Ames. These Amelias do not have an accompanying partner Bubba to keep them in check [160] Evil Ames are also a common outcome from those who make it into the "Ame Council", turning rogue and causing mischief in alternate timelines. Smol Ame in particular had been responsible to subdue an evil Ame, whom 1337 says was turned into a mutant by Smol Ame.[161]
