A child that randomly appears around the Underworld Academy... though she's actually an adult (or so she says). A self-proclaimed talented dark magician of noble birth (or so she says).

She almost never actually says "Hellshio."

Overview[edit source]

Murasaki Shion born December 8, is a female black magician belonging to Hololive 2nd Generation. She debuted in August 17.[13], debuted her 3D model in May 12[14], and in August 01st got her 2nd costume.[15] She received her swimsuit in August 26[16] and finally got her New Years costume in January 02nd[17]

Shion is well-known for her smug attitude and love for puns. She is commonly seen as an annoying little brat ("kusogaki") because of her behavior and attitude especially towards fellow gen mate Minato Aqua who she also has a friendly rivalry with. The two occasionally hold collaborate streams, most commonly in the game Minecraft, which often end up in pranks and light-hearted sabotage. The two of them along with Nakiri Ayame form the "Manji-Gumi Group".

Shion has a preference for Nintendo Games and is seen to play them quite often. She unquestionably can't handle horror but enjoys playing other games casually. She can't take being mocked but she also loves doing so to anyone she feels like and will try her best to squeeze in any jokes or puns that usually fall flat.

Her representative emote is a crescent moon.

Murasaki Shion is a very smug-oriented yet caring magician. She is talkative, can take the initiative and is willing to help someone if a situation calls for it. Though often times when she gets comfortable with a person she will perform pranks on or mess with them as part of her play and in return she's usually bullied or mocked in the same way. Shion is one of the talents in Hololive that popularized the annoyed expression "NEEEE!" when things doesn't go their way.

She enjoys collabing with loud-mouthed colleagues who she can talk a lot with and is known to be close to the likes of Minato Aqua, Kiryu Coco as well as Inugami Korone among others. Often times their dynamic and chemistry works well with how Shion behaves, thus making their streams a whole lot more interesting and unpredictable.

  • Shion has been a guest on Tomokazu Sugita's radio show, Anigera[42], twice. The first episode she was on was on January 17th, 2020[43]and the second episode was on January 23rd, 2020.[44]
  • Is one of the Hololive Production VTubers with the following verified accounts:
  • She belongs to "Manjigumi" (「卍組」; note that this is the Buddhist Swastika) comprising of the three members: herself, Minato Aqua, and Nakiri Ayame
  • She appeared as a guest on Takanashi Kiara's talk show, "HOLOTALK".[45]
  • She is mostly known amongst overseas viewers as a "Garlic" (in contrast to Minato Aqua who is known as an "Onion") [46]
  • Murasaki Shion was actually scouted before joining Hololive and did not have to go through the usual interview process. [47]
  • She decided to take part in the hololive IDOL PROJECT 1st Live. “Bloom" concert because she enjoys working towards a big goal and revelling in the feeling of accomplishment while reminiscing on everything that took place until then. [48]
  • Her 3D debut stream is know to be one of the most risque as her skirt was so short and thus highly prone to being blown over even with the slightest of movements[49][50]
  • She strongly dislikes Instagram for no reason in particular and thinks it's for more outgoing personalities unlike Twitter which she prefers because she thinks it's better suited for Nerds and Otaku.[51]
  • According to Yuzuki Choco [52], before the 3rd Generation of talents was introduced, you didn't know who else was debuting in your generation until the day of debut. Starting at Gen 3, talents would know and hang out with each other before debut.
