Kaisou Ressha (海想列車) is the third original song of Minato Aqua. It was first performed at her 3rd anniversary live on August 9, 2021, with the music video premiering soon after.
The name of the song has a multi-layered meaning that’s based on the kanji that can be used to write it.
海想, read as “kaisō”, doesn’t have a meaning on its own, but when you consider the meanings of both kanji separately it references thoughts, ideas (想) and the sea (海)
The first layer of meaning is in 回想, also read as “kaisō”, which means recollection, retrospection, reflection, or reminiscence.
Another layer of meaning comes from 回送, still read as “kaisō”, which is used to refer to a train that is moving back to its starting station without picking up passengers.
Another double meaning involves 海上, read as “kaijou”, (the literal meaning of it is “on the sea” or “surface of the sea”) and another kanji that has the same reading, 会場 which in the context of idols means “venue”, or in other words, a stage to perform on.
