Holotori (ホロ鳥) is an inter-branch subunit within Hololive consisting of all talents who are canonically birds (with the sole exception of Oozora Subaru). Holotori is also called Holobirds in English and Holounggas in Indonesian. The name "Holotori" (ホロ鳥) comes from Hololive (ホロライブ) and the Japanese word for "bird", tori (鳥).
History
Holotori was formed on October 16, 2020 as a duo between Takanashi Kiara and Oozora Subaru during their first collab together playing Untitled Goose Game. At that time, Kiara and Subaru were the only "bird" members within Hololive, and the group was called "ホロ鳥" in Japanese and "Holobirds" in English. Holotori gained an additional member after the debut of Pavolia Reine on December 6, 2020 and fans nicknamed this trio Turducken. Nanashi Mumei and Takane Lui later joined Holobirds upon their debuts on August 23, 2021 and November 27, 2021 respectively.
On January 5, 2022, Kiara rebooted the subunit under a single official name, "Holotori", across all languages.[2] On February 24, 2022, Kiara unveiled a new logo for Holotori that she had commissioned from Spritsnare.[3]
Members
Oozora Subaru
Subaru was not a bird according to her official canon. However, Subaru is jokingly called a "duck" by fans owing to her voice's timbre and has fully embraced this aspect into her persona, and is thus fully considered a bird.
Takanashi Kiara
Although Kiara is canonically a phoenix, Kiara is also jokingly referred to as a "chicken", a reference to her being the owner of KFP, a chicken fast-food restaurant chain.
Pavolia Reine
A peafowl princess, Reine was nicknamed a "turkey" by fans as early as her debut stream. Peafowls and turkeys are distantly related and both are members of the family Phasianidae.
Nananshi Mumei
As a barn owl, Mumei was immediately considered a member of Holobirds upon debut by the other members.
Takane Lui
As a hawk, Lui was also immediately considered a member of Holobirds upon debut.

Turducken
A turducken is a North American dish consisting of a deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned duck, further stuffed into a deboned turkey. Turducken is also a nickname used by fans to refer to the first three Holobirds: Takanashi Kiara, Oozora Subaru, and Pavolia Reine. Kiara herself has referred to the trio as Turducken as early as her first collab with Reine on January 9, 2021.[4]. The trio had their first collab together as Turducken on October 17, 2021.[5][6]
Streams
Since Holotori was created during Kiara and Subaru's first collab together on October 16, 2020, every collab consisting solely of Holotori members has been considered a Holotori stream.
