Holodex is a fan-made website design the enhance the viewing experience of watching VTubers. The site contains tools to track a VTubers streaming schedules, sync and watch multiple streams at the same time as well as acting a comprehensive database for fans to easily navigate and explore VTuber profiles, videos, streams, and other related information. Despite its name, the site does not focus just on Hololive or Hololive Production but also features data on Vtubers belonging to other agencies as well as selected indies.

Overview

Holodex was annouced by its creator Rice Cakesss on the Hololive Subreddit in October 2020. The site was made with help from the HoloTools team, a now defunct fansite with similar functionality.

Features

Database

Holodex uses a mixed of manually entered info and data scraping to create a comprehensive database on VTubers contents. The site keep track of not just the content of the video itself but also tracks clips, fan made timestamps for songs as well as any channels mentioned creating an accessible way for fans to track relating content in an easy way. The site also has its own tagging and categorization system allowing for straightforward experience without being dependent on Youtube's own search engine.

Multiview

A function inherited from HoloTools, this feature allow the user to simultaneously view multiple streams at the same time. User can also customize the layout of their screens letting them resize each stream, choosing to display specific chat or translation as well as the ability manage the audio from a central UI.

TLDex

The function selectively picks and highlights comments from the Live Chat, particularly focusing on those by live translators for easier visibility, while also capable of highlighting comments from other VTubers and YouTube Members.

Logo Filter

The homepage mimics that of Youtube homepages in terms of functions layout. The logo serves as a filter for specific agency and will change its name depending on which agency is chosen. For example, choosing to "All VTubers" would change its name to "Vtuberdex" while choosing "Nijisanji" would change it to "Nijidex". By default, this is set to Hololive (Production) hence Holodex

Streams Lists

The site display all content into three categories: Live & Upcoming, Archived (VOD,Video) and Clips.

Live and Upcoming

In this tab, all live stream and premiers are displayed with a red banner to display their active status. Below that is the upcoming section which features not just scheduled stream and premier but also placeholder for stream from the VTuber's schedule that were inputted into the database by fans with the thumbnail usually being the "Schedule Poster" from that VTuber's Social Media posts.
